Live for the second season

Mazgani

sxrmsessions#11/second season

There are moments when everything goes wrong, and we were deep in it when we first met Mazgani! We had problems with the PA system, the video cameras, and were pretty stressed by our new experience with setting up live showcases… Not the best conditions to perform in front of an audience either,  but Shahryar Mazgani and his band came to the sexroom with all their talent and professionalism to give the most intense and religious set that we saw during the festival ! You will have a hint of what we’re talking about in this session. Be sure to check his discography, you won’t regret it.

It was the search for silence that made Mazgani retreat to the countryside to record “Song of Distance”. Not the silence of the conventional studio, where the acoustics are planned and treated, but a place where one can find the most profound emotion.

Amidst countryside paths for goats and olive trees, they assembled in a naked building their improvised studio and, in about 10 days, recorded 14 songs.

The ambition was to find the passion and the truth of each performance, the life of each song.

The result is a spontaneous, naked, record that exposes a voice that sings the solitude of great loves, the loss and the fall, the fascination and the urgency.
